Good stuff: Convenient location & we have stayed there before. The bathroom had been refurbished & was fine.
Bad stuff: The beds in the room and the state of the furniture was very bad - the legs of the two chairs were coming off and the chairs had been wedged into the corners to disguise this, so they could not be moved as the legs would fall off. The beds were extremely uncomfortable and the mattressess were in a bad state also - they were so soft & lumpy that two out of the three of us had to sleep on the floor.
Overall: We would opt to stay somewhere else in future, despite the convenience of the Apollo, as the room was so uncomfortable, despite the nice bathroom.

Good stuff: Good situation; trains to Airport, lot of buses to different parts of the city, small shops and restaurants/cafés, the staff is very kind, the room with shower/toilet and TV is enough. I think I want to overnight there also next time I'll visiting Paris.
Bad stuff: The heating in old houses is a problem, there is no chance to move the heating lower/higher. The french café au lait is not good from the automaton and the quality/price of the breakfast is not good.
Overall: In general I got the information on the website.

Good stuff: easy to locate, close to everything
Bad stuff: nothing comes to mind
Overall: I would have liked to see a floor plan of the room layout, and a map showing what is in the neighbourhood.

Good stuff: The room was quiet and clean.
Bad stuff: It would have been nice to have included an English speaking televison channel for Americans visiting who are not fluent in a foreign language. For example, CNN or some other network. While in Germany, CNN was available.
Overall: I lived across from the train station. There were lots of tranists sleeping on the pavement at night. Which caused me to be a little leary about being out past 8:00. Also, I wish that I had been informed of the loud noises from people in and out of the train station. Many nights I was disturbed by overly zealous converations and,by the blaring sounds of automobile horns. Each morning (very early)I was awaken by loud noises from people, cars, and trucks. The ad for the hotel neglected to mention these details. As far as central location, the Apollo Hotel is a great location with easy access to the city. If you are wondering if I would stay at the Apollo again the answer is Yes. Only this time, I know exactly what to expect.

Good stuff: location, ceiling fan, balcony
Bad stuff: breakfast
Overall: The shower was incredibly small. It didn't bother me too much but some of my friends can't stand a small bathroom. Even though it was incredibly hot, the room was cool because of the balcony and ceiling fan. The breakfast was not very appealing for the price(a lot of bread products, a hard boiled egg and some yogurt.) For me, being across from the train station was ideal: I didn't have to go far with my luggage and it was easy meeting friends who were also training in. The room was very clean and sound proof. The staff was great. Overall, it was a very good experience.

Good stuff: The convenient location right opposite Gare du Nord. My rooms were clean. The elevator is essential to get up to the upper floors (there are 8). There are 24/7 restaurants almost right next door.
Bad stuff: Petit dejeuner is satisfactory but a little limited in variety, i.e., roll and croissant, boiled eggs, yoghurt, jam, toast, juice, tea, coffee, but no meats or cheese (also no salt or pepper for the eggs). The breakfast hostess seemed to resent any requests for other items, e.g. salt and pepper.
Overall: I had a credit card guaranteed room, and had notified the hotel that I would be arriving after 23:00h by Thalys. When I checked in about 23:30h, they had a room for me but said I would need to move to a bigger room the next day, and it would cost 10 Euros more. When I pointed out that I had a confirmed reservation at the lower rate, they agreed to charge that rate. It was inconvenient to move out of my room the next morning. I would have preferred to stay in the smaller room but was not given that option. Checkout took an excessive amount of time, even though I had informed the desk staff the night before and earlier on in the morning I departed.

Good stuff: Incredible value. Conveniently situated. Could check in early morning instead of waiting until noon.
Bad stuff: No problems, one could hardly expect great luxury for what we paid.
Overall: This has been quite a grand typical French station quarter hotel and retains many traces of its former glory. It has become a bit scruffy (but clean) and is currently being refurbished. It will probably move out of my price bracket when the old carpets and fabric wall-coverings go. Meanwhile it is quite exceptional value for money.
It is well situated for the Gare du Nord main-line and Metro but you can't hear the trains.
