Good stuff: Exceptionally well situated, within easy reach of the two main train stations and a nice downhill walk to the centre (admittedly, this walk can be through the red-light zone if you choose one route, but if you avert your eyes from the well-apportioned, underdressed women, there are some fine cafes and restaurants.

Bad stuff: The plumbing in the next room. If a guest is using the phone in their room, it is impossible to pay by credit card.

Overall: It's tremendous value in a handy part of town. The staff are friendly and welcoming. If you are looking to experience Paris and don't want to waste money on accommodation you hope you won't spend much time in, this is well worth considering.
