With so much on offer to see and do - here are a few ideas for you to start with. With so many museums and art galleries in the city its impossible to see them all - the main ones to aim for are the Picasso Museum, Orsay and Le Louvre - the most famous and most visited of them all - home to priceless art treasures from all over the world and the home of Mona Lisa.
Gorgeous gardens and peaceful parks and as for walking - that's one of the many ways you can see the sights. Take a stroll down Place de la Concorde, along Champs Elysees and at the far end you are faced with the monumental 50 metre high, 45 metre wide Arc de Triomphe.
Include Notre Dame, Eiffel Tower and Montmartre on your list of must sees.
If you have the time then perhaps venture out of the city a little and visit Chartres, the Palaces of Versailles - the gardens alone take at least a day to get around. Fontainbleau is a beautiful chateau located about 40 miles out of the city and makes a pleasant change with walks around the grounds, a nearby forest and the impressive palace itself.
