Those who come to Paris know that it is the city of art and culture, fine foods, wonderful wines and a city of romance and magic.

There are hundreds of museums and art galleries - the most famous being Le Louvre - home to the mystical Mona Lisa - be sure to spend time gazing at that enigmatic smile. Pompidou Centre is the French equivalent of Covent Garden - a buzz with artists, craft shops, trendy cafes and people from all lands. Take a walk up Montmartre where you will meet the great Sacre Coeur - pay homage to her magnificence and then take your reward - panoramic views across the city.

Walk or drive down from Place de la Concorde to Place Charles de Gualle and be met by Arc de Triomphe - a trophy to the French Army and commissioned by Napoleon.

A river boat ride up the Seine takes you to Notre Dame - alight here and be sure to spend time with this Gothic masterpiece.

With over 60 markets taking place throughout the city there is always a place to browse around, find the latest in gifts, jewells, gadgets, arts, clothing and sweets.

Spend relaxing evenings eating out in one of the many fine restaurants offering French cuisine and international dishes, accompanied by a good wine and your favourite company - what better way to pass the time on a Paris summer's night.

Good stuff: Very pleasant hotel in a location which, while not that interesting itself, is very well located in terms of main metro lines and RER - hence access to both airports and other areas of Paris is easy. Nice rooms and pleasant staff - some even remember and use your name !
Bad stuff: None really,
Overall: I stayed in what I thought was off season, though the hotel was often full. I was a single traveller but had a much larger room and paid single rates - and I was not asked to move to a smaller room during my stay as has happened at other hotels. The location isn't that interesting - though it is typical and has a covered city food market directly opposite. The area is safe and access to metro and RER is easy - as it is to mainline SCNF trains - so getting somewhere else is easy. The rooms and overall hotel are clean and pleasant and the staff are nice. As I noted above, they even remember your name - a small thing maybe but it doesn't happen at a lot of hotels in Paris - and were consistently courteous and smiling.
